In order to get started playing online Craps, you're going to have to know about all the different bets and odds. As there are quite a few, it can seem like a lot to take in if you're new to the game. I know I felt that way when I got started. Rest easy, though, because they're all pretty simple.
Before we get started, keep in mind that the bets and odds available at different online casinos may vary slightly. Those mentioned in this guide are based on the Craps bets and odds available at Silver Oak Casino. Now, let's get right into it...
This has to be the most basic of all the bets, and is one that nearly every player uses because the house edge is about 1.41%, which is pretty decent when you compare it to other odds on table games. It is definitely the place for beginners to start.
This bet is placed on the 'Pass Line' section of the table and is based on the result of the come out roll (the first roll of a new game). If the come out roll is a 7 or 11, you win even money. If the come out roll is 2, 3, or 12, you lose. If any other number is rolled (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10) it's called the point. The shooter will continue to throw the dice until he/she either rolls the point a second time or rolls a 7. If the point comes up before the 7, you win even money. If not, you lose your bet.
Also known as Pass Odds, this is an additional bet that you can make on the Pass Line after the point has been established. Basically, you're betting on the point being rolled before a 7.
There are different odds for each point, which this table outlines:
| Number | Payout |
| 4 | 2:1 |
| 5 | 3:2 |
| 6 | 6:5 |
| 8 | 6:5 |
| 9 | 3:2 |
| 10 | 2:1 |
This is similar to the pass line bet, but it's made after the point has been established. Once you've placed this bet, the next roll then becomes the come out roll for your bet, and the number rolled will payout different odds:
| Number | Payout |
| 4 | 2:1 |
| 5 | 3:2 |
| 6 | 6:5 |
| 8 | 6:5 |
| 9 | 3:2 |
| 10 | 2:1 |
This is also sometimes called Come Odds. It's an additional bet on the point being rolled before a 7. You can place this bet only after the point has been established. If the 7 is rolled before the point, you lose.
This bet can be thought of as betting against the shooter. You're betting on a 2 or 3 being rolled in the come out roll, or that a 7 will be rolled before the point (see Laying the Odds below). A 12 is considered a push in this case. The table below outlines the payouts for rolling a 7 before the point.
This is an additional bet you can put down on the Don't Pass Line. It is the opposite of taking the odds. You can only put down this bet after the point has been established, and it is on a 7 being rolled before the point.
| Number | Payout |
| 4 | 1:2 |
| 5 | 2:3 |
| 6 | 5:6 |
| 8 | 5:6 |
| 9 | 2:3 |
| 10 | 1:2 |
This is similar to a Don't Pass bet, but it is made on a non-come out roll.
This is a bet that is placed on a specific point number (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10) that you think will be rolled before a 7. If your number is rolled before the 7, you're paid out according to the table below. If a 7 is rolled first, you lose.
This is a Place Bet put down after the point has been established. Your bet is that a 6 will be rolled before a 7. It pays even money.
This is the same as the Big 6 bet, but you're betting that an 8 will be rolled before a 7. This bet also pays out even money.
| Number | Payout |
| 4 | 9:5 |
| 5 | 7:5 |
| 6 | 7:6 |
| 8 | 7:6 |
| 9 | 7:5 |
| 10 | 9:5 |
This is a bet placed on the next number rolled being a 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, or 12. The payouts on these bets are as follows:
These are bets that can be placed before any throw. There are as follows:
